Foundation Louise van Eeghen Lady Aberdeen Capital Fund

LELAF works on women rights and female leadership in the public domain through financial support for activities of the International Council of Women (ICW). We strive to empower women worldwide by enabling them to meet, either physically or virtually.

The foundation is inspired by three women:

Louise C.A. van Eeghen

Louise van Eeghen (1884-1979) was a member of the league of nations before the second world war and a board member of ICW, advocating women’s rights and world peace.

Lady Aberdeen (1857-1939) a social activist and also president of ICW.

Mechta van den Boogert (1920-2004), board member (treasurer) of ICW and asked by Louise van Eeghen to act as trustee of her donations. She erected LELAF in 1998. To honour Mechta, LELAF created a triennial award in 2011.

All three are role models for women up to this day as they were autonomous and persevering in their fight for women’s rights.
